The world will not believe you unless the world sees for itself what we say to be true is in fact true - “My flesh is true food and my blood is true drink”

Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ (Better known as the Feast of Corpus Christi)…..I want to begin this reflection with a question - Do you believe that the consecrated Host at Mass is Jesus Christ himself - Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity?….Honestly - Do you believe that?……By the way we answer that question determines EVERYTHING…..Once we come to understand this mystery, not only will you view your Catholic faith differently, you will view EVERYTHING differently……I can only speak for myself….I am Catholic and will ALWAYS be Catholic because ONLY the Catholic Church can give to me Sacramental grace…..When I sit before the exposed Blessed Sacrament on the altar - I feel (tangibly feel) not only a deep peace within my very being but the very room the Blessed Sacrament is exposed in has a “feeling” unlike any other place on earth…If you think what I just said is “crazy” - Why don’t you sit before the Blessed Sacrament and see for yourself……The great J.R.R. Tolkien, the famous English writer, scholar, artist, and linguist, who is best known for authoring The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings put it this way……”Out of the darkness of my life, so much frustrated, I put before you the one great thing to love on the earth; the Blessed Sacrament. There you will find romance, glory, honor, fidelity and the true way of all your loves on earth”……The Mass is simply “a show” without the belief that Jesus is fully present in the Sacred Host…But if you KNOW that Jesus is present….You will never be bored at Mass again….In fact, you will want to attend daily Mass…..”This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever”…You either believe that or you do not…..“Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.”

“I am the living bread that came down from heaven, says the Lord; whoever eats this bread will live forever”

The words of Christ are VERY clear…He tells us point blank that “His flesh is true food and his blood is true drink”…..Why then do people not “see” this?…Why is it that people can go to Mass for decades and get nothing out of it?……If someone says that to me I can tell you what is missing - Have they gone to a Sacramental Confession?……Some Catholics have not been to Confession since they were seven years old…How are you to expect to receive the benefits of the Blessed Sacrament if you do not prepare your soul to receive it?…..The teaching of Catholic Church has been and always will be VERY clear - In order to receive the Blessed Sacrament, one must be in the state of grace…That means you have confessed all your mortal sins before you approach the altar…..This reality must be made crystal clear - Because EVERYTHING depends upon it…..Jesus tells us again point blank…..”Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you”…..Sacramental grace animates our very life - And frankly, it shows! - Because EVERYTHING depends upon grace…Why would someone not want that? - For the life of me I can not provide an answer to that question….Humanity “settles” for an inferior existence - We short change ourself…Its time to stop!!!! - The ONLY way the secular world will second guess their choices and decisions that keep them away from Sacramental grace is the witness of a holy life - HEAR what I just said and HEAR it clearly!……People simply need to see with their own two eyes what life can be like, if they only put aside their pride and bend their knee to God…..You will never argue anyone into the Church - Trust me on that - But a consistent witness of a holy life, founded in Sacramental grace will result in the world around you to think long and hard…..Jesus said to St Thomas when he doubted him - “Do not be unbelieving, but believe”…And in time St Thomas came around….And did great things…Give God permission to “open your eyes” and enter your soul - Then you will do GREAT things too!

“For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes”

Today in many communities around the world the Feast of Corpus Christi will take place…..Eucharistic processions will be seen in the streets of our communities….And that is a good thing…But how will this day change those who view the Blessed Sacrament as merely a “cookie” or a symbol?…That is the larger question that needs to be addressed - Only by the way we live our life will we convince an unbelieving world that God is truly present in our Churches….The world needs to “see” for itself that everything we say to be true is actually true…..That begins with YOU and ME….The transformation of the world comes down to a small piece of “bread” consecrated by the hands of a Catholic priest - “Blessed are you who see and believe” - Catholics must strive to become what we consume - The world will not believe you unless the world sees for itself what we say to be true is in fact true - “My flesh is true food and my blood is true drink”
