“Promptings for us to do good come from the Holy Ghost…… These promptings nudge us further along the straight and narrow path of discipleship…….. The natural man doesn't automatically think of doing good. It isn't natural.….We rationalize our bad choices and behavior, making excuses while doubling down on bad choices we know to be wrong…….A consistent prayer life, fasting, alms giving & the Sacramental life elevate our human nature and provide the tools to stay the course…….On our own, left to our own devices, man will ALWAYS veer off the road that leads to heaven, which is narrow….don’t FOOL yourself…IT”S A NARROW ROAD…….The trail is never-changing, it won’t lead you astray. It won’t always be easy to follow and at times it will look too narrow for your feet……….. Follow it anyway it leads to salvation……..There is NO other way”

Gospel Text: (Lk 13:22-30)

Jesus passed through towns and villages,
teaching as he went and making his way to Jerusalem.
Someone asked him,
“Lord, will only a few people be saved?”
He answered them,
“Strive to enter through the narrow gate,
for many, I tell you, will attempt to enter
but will not be strong enough.
After the master of the house has arisen and locked the door,
then will you stand outside knocking and saying,
‘Lord, open the door for us.’
He will say to you in reply,
‘I do not know where you are from.’
And you will say,
‘We ate and drank in your company and you taught in our streets.’
Then he will say to you,
‘I do not know where you are from.
Depart from me, all you evildoers!’
And there will be wailing and grinding of teeth
when you see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
and all the prophets in the Kingdom of God
and you yourselves cast out.
And people will come from the east and the west
and from the north and the south
and will recline at table in the Kingdom of God.
For behold, some are last who will be first,
and some are first who will be last.”

Reflect, today, upon the fact that we must all take eternal salvation seriously. If you find that you have become lax in your spiritual life, then use this Gospel as a motivation to change. Do not allow yourself to be one of those knocking at the gates of Heaven, only to realize that our Lord does not know you. Do all you can to eradicate the sin of presumption from your life, and your reward will be truly great in Heaven.
