The Catholic Church is a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints……. When Jesus founded His Church on the “rock” that was Peter, He knew the nature of mankind well. In His wisdom. He left us the Sacraments, which are the “medicine” for our broken nature. I tell you this very clearly and honestly echoing the words of Jesus Christ Himself. “Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.”…..On our own strengthen and in the power of our will we cannot be who we were meant to be without the Sacraments……Frequent Confession and the Eucharist will lead you home to heaven….There is no other way to get there…So get in the boat!

Gospel Text: (Mt 9:9-13)

As Jesus passed by,
he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post.
He said to him, “Follow me.”
And he got up and followed him.
While he was at table in his house,
many tax collectors and sinners came
and sat with Jesus and his disciples.
The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples,
“Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
He heard this and said,
“Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.
Go and learn the meaning of the words,
    I desire mercy, not sacrifice.
I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.”

Reflect, today, upon the need you have in your life today for forgiveness. What sin do you struggle with the most? Interestingly, the holier one becomes, the more clearly they see their daily sins and their need for forgiveness and healing. If you struggle with this at all, spend time examining your conscience. Look for ways to do it more thoroughly and honestly. If you do, you can be certain that our Lord, the Divine Physician, will deeply desire to dine with you today and always.
