When the Truth becomes a lie - Darkness Falls - And when your light is darkness, how very deep will the darkness be? - Once Again - You tell me

Today at Holy Mass we hear in the Gospel of St Luke Jesus encouraging his friends….”Turning to the disciples in private he said, "Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I say to you, many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it”…….A person with a clean heart “sees”……Our world today measures intelligence very differently then God does……So many people, who are gifted beyond all measure….Analytically brilliant! - Miss it…..Jesus is reassuring his friends….What you see and hear - Is a gift - Its the “pearl of great price”……When one reads Scripture, certain themes emerge consistently….”Sight” and “Hearing” are two of those reoccurring themes…..Our Lord tells us….”Blessed are the pure of heart - For they shall see the face of God”….That statement is not just referring to when we die and go to our heavenly reward - God willing…Its also accounting for the “sight” in which we “see” in the here and now…..Holy people - People close to God “see” what the secular world does not…..Only in and through frequent Sacramental Confessions does one purify their heart…..Only through fasting does one purify their heart…Only by the frequent reception of the Blessed Sacrament in the state of grace does one purify their heart…..Only by living a sacrificial life for others, allowing the Holy Spirit to indwell in our soul does one purify their heart…..Such a person has “vision” - They “see” - They see what the world misses - Don’t believe me?…..Read what many of the Popes have written over the centuries….These men were and are “many steps ahead” of the world’s greatest thinkers…..So many statements and encyclicals from the Popes over the centuries, statements made well before it was vogue to say or believe certain ideas, which were adamantly rejected, were only to be validated in time…….How do they do it?……Simple - They strive to purify their hearts…How about you?…..What you “see” depends upon it.

“Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth; you have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the kingdom”

In the late sixties across the world the sexual revolution was changing many of the established norms of society…One of the big topics of that time was contraception…Should the Church change its position on contraception?…..St Pope Paul VI was attacked on all sides, both within the Church and outside the Church….Amidst this “storm” that raged around him, he stayed the course…And for those who abandoned Church teaching on contraception…The Holy Father made some bold predictions in 1968…You tell me if he was right?…..

In section 17 of his encyclical Humanae Vitae Pope Paul VI wrote that contraception would have the following consequences:

1. open wide the way for marital infidelity and a general lowering of moral standards

2. the government might force contraceptives upon married couples

3. loss of respect for women

4. a loss of humility regarding humanity’s role, we would begin to see ourselves as the ultimate masters of our nature

Was he right?……..”Blessed are the pure of heart - For they shall see the face of God”….Not only that - The pure of heart “see” - Period!

“Do not rejoice because the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice because your names are written in heaven."

Today we are told by Jesus in St Luke’s Gospel that those who are faithful to the Lord, see and hear what the world seems to miss…..How true!….And you do not have to look too far to validate this claim…..The ruling class of America can not “get out of its own way”…..The elite colleges and universities seem to have lost every once of common sense….American politicians have embraced ideologies that not only are failing before their very eyes but in the “sight” of those failures, they double and triple down…..Only God and God’s grace can give our nation and its people “sight” again….The answers to America's problems do not rest in our political class or with people “Voting Harder”…They rest within our heart - In our will - And in our soul….Jesus tells us very clearly in Scripture….”Can a blind person guide a blind person?
