Have we recognized the time of his visitation?

Today the Universal Church commemorates the Feast Day of St Margaret Mary Alacoque, a French nun who lived during the 12th century. St Margaret is known for promoting the modern day devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which to this day is recognized globally on the First Friday of every month. This devotion started as a result of Jesus himself revealing to St Margaret his human heart, which burned with love for all humanity……As I read this along with the readings from the daily Mass today, I pondered just how much I take for granted Jesus’ love for me and the entire human race…Being a Father of five myself, I do have an understanding of what a father’s love is all about….The lengths to which Jesus demonstrated his love for us is beyond all understand!!!….How to this very day he weeps for humanity as does his Blessed Mother - Both of their hearts wounded and abandoned…..How would we feel if our children turned from us? - Never to return…..Today St Luke in the Gospel tells us how Jesus addresses the leaders of his community…He tells them how their actions have resulted in killing the prophets and turning the people away from the Truth…..Instead of repenting…Instead of agreeing with Jesus…..These men plot to kill Christ and for what?…..Power and Status…..How about us?…….…"Woe to you who build the memorials of the prophets whom your fathers killed. Consequently, you bear witness and give consent to the deeds of your ancestors, for they killed them and you do the building”…...To this very day the Sacred Heart of Jesus bleeds for all of humanity….…When St Margaret was given the vision of Christ’s wounded human heart…When she saw this vision, she immediately looked to do penance and make reparations…..What is our response?

“Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD; LORD, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to my voice in supplication”

Once a person has a child of their own - Their entire world view changes…Speaking personally, I can’t watch even on television any image of children suffering…It immediately makes me think of my own children…Now imagine what Jesus sees when he looks down upon our world today?…..Everyday when I walk to my office in New York City, I see so many people living on the street….Drug addicts…The mentally ill abandoned by society….The sights I see are so disturbing sometimes I can’t put them into words….Most days as I walk passed the bus station, on my way to work, I see this one young boy…He is a drug addict living on the street…He may be around 19 years old….He is filthy, sometimes walking bare foot and most days completely out of his mind…..That is someone’s child!!!!!…Can you imagine if that was your son!!!!!…How would you feel?….To what extent would you try to help your own son!!!!!…..Clearly I am powerless to these sights and my only response is, I pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet each day for everyone I come across, to and from my office building, for all those who are in need both materially and spiritually…..Its basically all I can do…..Now imagine what Jesus feels?….He died for each and every one of those street people - He gave every ounce of his blood for them personally!!!!…..As I walk the streets of New York City…I constantly think of Jesus as he looked at the people of Jerusalem right before he died…….“As he drew near, he saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If this day you only knew what makes for peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you; they will encircle you and hem you in on all sides. They will smash you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another within you because you did not recognize the time of your visitation”……..To this very day, the very human heart of Christ weeps for all of humanity - For you and me………….Have we recognized the time of his visitation?

“I trust in the LORD; my soul trusts in his word. My soul waits for the LORD more than sentinels wait for the dawn”……JMJ
