Beware of the half truth. You may have gotten hold of the wrong half.

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it and ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.- Winston Churchill (1874-1965) British politician.

Gospel Text: (JN 16:12-15)
Jesus said to his disciples:
“I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.
But when he comes, the Spirit of truth,
he will guide you to all truth.
He will not speak on his own,
but he will speak what he hears,
and will declare to you the things that are coming.
He will glorify me,
because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.
Everything that the Father has is mine;
for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine
and declare it to you.”

Jesus calls Himself "the Way, and the Truth, and the Life" (Jn 14:6). He promises that the truth will set us free (Jn 8:32). He prays for us to be consecrated in truth (Jn 17:19). Jesus asks the Father to send the Spirit of truth (Jn 14:16-17).

The Lord is clearly preoccupied with the truth. When Jesus speaks of truth, He does not refer to information but relation. He is speaking of true love, a true friend, a spouse who is true. He speaks of faithfulness and commitment.

Are you putting God off? Do you tell Him "some other time"? Are there things you can't bear to hear from God? (Jn 16:12) Are you setting up defense mechanisms to keep from hearing God?
