We have a strange illusion that mere time cancels sin. . .But mere time does nothing either to the fact or to the guilt of sin…..Don’t fool yourself…. The guilt as a result of sin is a burden that only the Sacrament of Confession can remove…The good news…Mercy is free and always available!

“What then are we afraid of? Can we have too much of God? Is it a misfortune to be freed from the heavy yoke of the world, and to bear the light burden of Jesus Christ? Do we fear to be too happy, too much deliver from ourselves, from the caprices of pride, the violence of our passions, and the tyranny of this deceitful world?”  - ― François Fénelon: (1651 –1715: was a French Roman Catholic archbishop, theologian, poet and writer)

Gospel Text: (Mt 11:28-30)

Jesus said to the crowds:
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

Reflect, today, upon whether you feel weary at times. Ponder, especially, any mental or emotional weariness. Oftentimes these forms of weariness are actually spiritual in nature and need a spiritual remedy. Seek the remedy our Lord offers you by accepting His invitation to come to Him, deeply in prayer, and rest in His presence. Doing so will help to lift the heavy burdens with which you struggle.
