“Jesus said the weeds would grow with the wheat until the Judgment,"…….By our fruits we will be known…… I have come to believe that there is more grace in becoming wheat than there is in pulling weeds.”

‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” – St John the Evangelist: (15AD – 100AD:  is the name traditionally given to the author of the Gospel of John)

Gospel Text: (MK 13:24-32)
Jesus said to his disciples:
"In those days after that tribulation
the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light,
and the stars will be falling from the sky,
and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

"And then they will see 'the Son of Man coming in the clouds'
with great power and glory,
and then he will send out the angels
and gather his elect from the four winds,
from the end of the earth to the end of the sky.

"Learn a lesson from the fig tree.
When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves,
you know that summer is near.
In the same way, when you see these things happening,
know that he is near, at the gates.
Amen, I say to you,
this generation will not pass away
until all these things have taken place.
Heaven and earth will pass away,
but my words will not pass away.

"But of that day or hour, no one knows,
neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

Today the Church invites us to long for and prepare for the Second Coming of Jesus. How do we prepare for it? Let us place God first in our lives and love our neighbor as ourselves. Let us cleanse our hearts from sin.

The final conquest of evil will take place when Jesus comes again as Judge. Jesus’ Second Coming will complete what Jesus began with his birth in Bethlehem, his death and resurrection. It will bring the fullness of salvation to the world.

The Season of Advent is approaching. How will we prepare for the birth of Jesus this Christmas? A good way to start is a good sacramental confession.
