“Sometimes you can tell what something is by what is isn't.”

For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. – St Matthew

Gospel Text: (MT 12:38-42)
Some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Jesus,
“Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.”
He said to them in reply,
“An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign,
but no sign will be given it
except the sign of Jonah the prophet.
Just as Jonah was in the belly of the whale three days and three nights,
so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth
three days and three nights.
At the judgment, the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation
and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah;
and there is something greater than Jonah here.
At the judgment the queen of the south will arise with this generation
and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth
to hear the wisdom of Solomon;
and there is something greater than Solomon here.”

Our age is terribly immersed in political turmoil. We observe daily growing levels of conflict between nations and within nations. Sadly much of the turmoil can even be traced to religious conflicts..

And we ask what the Lord wants………….

The voice of God speaks to us today primary through Jesus — Jesus raised from the dead fulfilling the sign of Jonah. And the voice rises up within us. Through faith and baptism we share Jesus' dignity of priest, prophet and king. And through the Indwelling Spirit the voice of Jesus echoes Micah’s perennial message (MI 6:1-4, 6-8): Do right, love goodness, and walk humbly before the Lord.
