The choice is yours to make - Make a good choice

Today at Holy Mass St Luke in the Gospel tells us about a King, who throws a huge party…..He invites everyone to this party…And to his amazement, no one shows up….He can’t believe it!……So what does he do?…He tells his servants to invite others…the poor, the lost and the lame to take the place of his own people, whom he originally invited…..Clearly, this story is telling us about how Jesus reached a hand out to his own people, the Israelites, and they rejected him…..But here is the deal - Choices have consequences both in real time and in the Gospel story today…Let’s look at how this Gospel passage ends…….”Then the master of the house in a rage commanded his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in here the poor and the crippled, the blind and the lame.'The servant reported, 'Sir, your orders have been carried out and still there is room.' The master then ordered the servant, 'Go out to the highways and hedgerows and make people come in that my home may be filled. For, I tell you, none of those men who were invited will taste my dinner.’”……Notice - “The Party” went on anyway without the people the King originally invited - Take note……We all have free will and we all make choices….God offers us the best and if we choose to reject him - Well - He will not force us to “come into his party”…..Choices have consequences - We are all adults - Life does not revolve around us and we surely do not make the rules……………”Cutting off your nose in spite of your face” is an old saying where I come from in New Jersey… Love can not be forced upon someone - That is why God gives us free will…But with every choice in life comes with it consequences…..So think long and hard - God offers us “the best of the best” - But if you are not interested - Others will take your place…And in the end - The only one who will lose out - Sadly will be you…Think long and hard

“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest, says the Lord”

The doors of the Catholic Church are open to all…However, in order to receive the Blessed Sacrament, one must be a Baptized Catholic and be in the state of grace…This is a perennial teaching of the Church……”Anyone who desires to receive Christ in Eucharistic communion must be in the state of grace. Anyone aware of having sinned mortally must not receive communion without having received absolution in the sacrament of penance.” (1415 CCC)……Anyone who tells us otherwise both in the Church or outside the Church is a thief and a liar……The same goes for getting into heaven - We do not get into heaven on our terms - Write that one down!………I have been going to daily Mass now for some time…And I have noticed at many parishes across America that there are people who attend Mass but do not receive the Blessed Sacrament…...When I see that, I always say a prayer for that person when I am on the Communion line…..Such a person is doing the right thing! - And in many ways, I admire them! - They are ”working out” what needs to be addressed….Life is all about “working things out”…....We are all imperfect…But that is why Jesus came and walked the earth…That is also why he founded a Church…..Only God’s grace can help us…..Write that one down too!…..We must cooperate with God inorder to help ourself…To “work things out”…And if we do choose to cooperate with God - He will help us!…..I have found in my own life that God can never be out down in generosity…If you give God an “inch” - God will give you “a yard”!…….Maybe its time to try? - To take a step - And allow God to do what he does best - Transform us……Take a chance - My bet is - God can “work it all out” - He is an expert in “untying knots”

"A man gave a great dinner to which he invited many. When the time for the dinner came, he dispatched his servant to say to those invited, 'Come, everything is now ready.’”

Today we are told in the Gospel that a great and powerful King was “throwing a party”….And no one wanted to come……Sound familiar?…….Why is the world “not interested” in what God is “selling”?….Maybe we think God “takes from us” instead of gives?….Maybe we think a life following God “short changes” us in some way?…Maybe we think that it does not matter?…….Part of being an adult means you have “been around” for a while and have seen how “things work” - You see with your own two eyes people who make good decisions and people who make bad decisions - And with those decisions made - there are outcomes…That is reality - And that is what a clear headed adult “sees”…..We read in the Book of Psalms the following.......…”Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the stalwart one who takes refuge in him”…..All we have to do is “look” for ourself - The evidence of God's goodness stares us in the face - And everyone is welcome to it……But no one can or will force us to “taste and see”….....The choice is yours to make - Make a good choice……………..JMJ
