The best is yet to come

Today at Holy Mass in the Gospel from St Matthew, Jesus tells us all something that is fundamental to our salvation….Its on the final exam!…..So listen up….”Jesus said to his disciples, Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? Or what can one give in exchange for his life? For the Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father's glory, and then he will repay each according to his conduct. Amen, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom”………In American Christianity, we have this distorted belief that we can sanitize the cross of Christ…Its the - “I believe in Jesus - I’m a good guy - So I can do whatever I want”…….My friends - TRUST ME - That is not the path to eternal life - TRUST ME

“With your strong arm you redeemed your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. You led your people like a flock under the care of Moses and Aaron”

Jesus drops a BOMB on us today in the Gospel…But he also tells us in Scripture…”My yoke is easy and my burden is light”……When we take up our cross and follow the Lord, we have a deep peace…A peace the world can never give…That is not a lie…..I would not trade my life in nor do I regret the choice I made to follow the Lord as a Catholic for anything the world can give me - That is no lie!….Why?….Because of the peace that goes along with doing God’s will…Everyone in the world wants to have joy….Everyone in the world wants peace - EVERYONE!…I think I can say that with certainty…..The way to get this is not what is advertised on television my friends…..Do you realize - We are one Sacramental Confession way from that peace and joy - Just ponder that statement for one minute - A fifteen minute conversation with a Catholic Priest can give you deep peace and joy……Don’t sell yourself short

“O God, your way is holy; what great god is there like our God? You are the God who works wonders; among the peoples you have made known your power”

Today Jesus in the Gospel at Mass tells us that he is not just looking for believers - He is looking for followers…And to be a follower we need grace…That is why we need the Sacraments…..I am going to let you in on a little secret…”The road to heaven - Is heaven!”…….I would not trade my life for anything the world has to offer…..Take Jesus at his word….And here is the best part about it…The best is yet to come
